My Girl The River is the work of American singer/songwriter/producer Kris Wilkinson Hughes. A witches brew of folk, Americana, Blues, Country, singer/songwriter and roots, Kris has been described as ‘Nashville meets southern gothic’ and ‘a voice like sugared espresso’. AmericanaUK gave their most recent album ‘Cardinal in the Snow’ 8/10. Based in the UK with bassist and husband, Joe Hughes, and sometimes their daughter Rue on backing vocals and ukulele, My Girl The River has released two critically acclaimed albums, performed at the Isle of Wight Festival, Black Deer Festival, Septembersong Festival and toured with artists such as Suzanne Vega. Kris has performed with Jonathan Byrd, Fred Eaglesmith, David Olney, Bill Morrissey, Kim Richey, Darden Smith, Boo Hewerdine, Annie Dressner, Polly Paulusma, Lady Nade, Noble Jacks and many others. Currently working on a new album, the next single, Information Highway (November 17), deals with the ugly side of the internet/social media. Kris has also been producing songs for other artists, most recently two songs for British country artist Anna Howie. Kris also shares the stage with Anna and another acclaimed songwriter, Kate Ellis. Together the trio perform as The ARC Songwriters - ARC standing for Americana, Roots and Country. A trio of women singing gorgeous harmonies, telling stories and more. Compared to Trio Dolly, Linda and Emmylou by journalist Paul Sexton. More information about the ARC Songwriters Trio HERE. Kris is currently booking dates for 2024 with a release date set for the album at the middle of March 2024. You can hear My Girl The River on all streaming platforms and follow on social media.
